Authorize.net Fraud Detection Settings
Authorize.net has default fraud detection settings for your protection. Due to that, you might be seeing "Held for review" errors when attempting to process a payment.
If you see these errors, there are three potential scenarios:
- If your Authorize.net gateway was provisioned by Friendly Payments, they have already set your account to limit the transactions per hour (500) and per day (1000). Please keep these filters in place as a security measure.
- If your Authorize.net gateway was provisioned by a different provider, please follow the steps below.
- If you are seeing "Held for review" errors when attempting to process a payment, you may need to confirm your settings and follow the steps below.
Steps to follow if you meet the criteria for number 2 or 3 above:
-
Log-in to your Authorize.net account and visit your fraud settings center by going to "Tools > Fraud Detection Suite" and click through the following filters:
-
Daily Velocity Filter - Enable Filter, Allow [1000] transactions per day and highlight "Do not authorize, but hold for review", click save
-
Hourly Velocity Filter - Enable Filter, Allow [500] transactions per hour and highlight "Do not authorize, but hold for review", click save
- Enhanced ACH Handling Filter - Enable Filter, then in the General AVS Responses, line "B - Transaction was submitted without a billing address" should be set to "Decline". All other lines can be set to "Allow". See screenshot below.
- All other filters should be Disabled
-
You likely have a few transactions that are held for review if you've seen this error. You should approve those transactions (declining would mark that payment as fraud), and then void the transactions.
