[Marketing](https://docs.gymdesk.com/en/help/docs/marketing?hsLang=en) # Referral Program A strong referral program can be [one of your gym's most effective marketing tools](https://www.maonrails.com/blog/how-to-make-a-referral-program-your-gyms-most-powerful-marketing-tool/). In this article we'll go over over how to set up and apply your referral program. ### **Referral Tracking** During member sign-up you or the member signing-up can indicate how the member found out about your gym. One of the options there is "Referral", which opens up another field for you to enter the name of the member that made the referral. Chose the member from the dropdown that appears to mark them as the referrer. ![referrals](https://docs.gymdesk.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported%20sitepage%20images/referrals.gif?width=670&height=436&name=referrals.gif)   ### **Referral List** New referrals appear in your [marketing dashboard](https://docs.gymdesk.com/help/marketing-dashboard?hsLang=en). You can view historical data for every referral made through the system in the [referrals list](https://docs.gymdesk.com/manager/acquisition/referrals?hsLang=en). ![referral-list](https://docs.gymdesk.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported%20sitepage%20images/referral-list.png?width=670&height=261&name=referral-list.png) If your referral program is set up, you can award members for successful referrals by clicking on the "Apply" button in the "Reward" column.   ### **Referral Rewards** You can customize how and when referrers are rewarded for bringing in new members. To customize the rewards given to referrers, simply turn off the “Automatically reward referrals” option under **Settings** → **Marketing** → **Referral Rewards**. ![ReferralRewardSettings](https://docs.gymdesk.com/hs-fs/hubfs/ReferralRewardSettings.png?width=670&height=344&name=ReferralRewardSettings.png) With this setting disabled, you can manually decide what reward to grant for each referral on a case-by-case basis. **Note:** Existing referrals will **NOT** have their rewards applied automatically when this setting is turned off.
