[Competition Management](https://docs.gymdesk.com/en/help/docs/competition-management?hsLang=en) # Link your members to Smoothcomp Gymdesk can match many members to their Smoothcomp profile for you, but each member still needs to link their own account. This article shows you how to check where your members stand and how to get them linked. When a member links their Gymdesk profile to their Smoothcomp account: - **They can register for competitions through Gymdesk.** Only linked members can register from the Competitions tab, with their details filled in automatically. - **Their competition history shows on their profile.** A linked member's profile shows a Competitions tab with their past results. - **Payment status stays up to date.** Their registration status updates automatically after they pay.   **Before you start:** your academy needs to be connected to Smoothcomp. Until it is, members see "Available once your coach connects to Smoothcomp" and can't link. See Competitions in Gymdesk: Connect with Smoothcomp. ### **See who's been matched** When you connect your academy, Gymdesk looks for members whose name and email match a Smoothcomp profile. 1. Go to **Competitions** -\> **Athlete Activity**. 2. Members who show **Auto-matched to Smoothcomp** have a likely match, and you'll see their Smoothcomp results in your Gymdesk views.   A match isn't the same as a link. Auto-matched members still need to link their own account before they can register through Gymdesk or see their competition history on their profile. ![Gymdesk Images-35](https://docs.gymdesk.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gymdesk%20Images-35.png?width=670&height=378&name=Gymdesk%20Images-35.png) **"Not linked" under a competition** means that athlete is in your Smoothcomp academy but doesn't have a Gymdesk profile yet. Add them as a member in Gymdesk, and then they can link. ### **How members link their profile** Every member links their own Smoothcomp account, including members who were auto-matched. They can do it from the member portal or when they register for an event. Either way takes a minute or two. 1. Sign in to the member portal. 2. Open **Competitions**. 3. On the **Discover** tab, find the **Link your Smoothcomp profile** banner and select **Link my profile**. 4. Follow the prompts to connect their Smoothcomp account. ![LinkSmoothcomp](https://docs.gymdesk.com/hs-fs/hubfs/LinkSmoothcomp.png?width=670&height=158&name=LinkSmoothcomp.png) **Linking when registering.** Members who haven't linked yet are asked to connect their account the first time they select **Register**. Go to **Members** and select **Filter**. 2. Under **Connected to Smoothcomp**, choose **No**, then select **Apply**. 3. It's called Smoothcomp Connect. Here's what it means for you: Find tournaments our gym's already approved, matched to your belt and division. Register in a couple taps, with your info already filled in. See your results, medals, and placements land right on your profile, next to your belt and attendance. No new app to download, nothing extra to set up. **Just open the Competitions tab and take a look.** See you on the mats, \[Gym Name\] Email 2 · Follow-up nudge Subject: **Have you checked out the Competitions tab yet?** Hi \[First Name\], Quick reminder: you can now find and register for tournaments right inside the app, no separate sign-ups or spreadsheets needed. **Head to the Competitions tab to see what's coming up.** If you're planning to compete, this is the easiest way to sign up and keep your results on record. Questions? Just reply here. \[Gym Name\] #### **Push Notification or SMS Templates** Launch Our tournaments just moved into Gymdesk — find them all in the new Competitions tab. Finding tournaments See every tournament we're going to, matched to your belt and division, in the Competitions tab. Registration Your name, belt, and academy are already filled in — sign up for your next tournament in the Competitions tab. Results synced Podiums and placements now show up next to your belt and attendance. Check it out in the Competitions tab. Coach endorses a tournament Your coach just approved a tournament for the team — see who's in and sign up in the Competitions tab. ### **Frequently asked questions** \+Do members have to link their Smoothcomp account? Yes, to register for competitions through Gymdesk and to see their competition history on their profile. Members can still browse events and say they're interested without linking. \+A member was auto-matched. Are they linked? No. Auto-matched means Gymdesk found a Smoothcomp profile with the same name and email, so you can see their results in your Gymdesk views. The member still needs to link their own account to register through Gymdesk or see their history on their profile. \+Why can't a member link their account? Your academy needs to be connected to Smoothcomp first. Until then, members see "Available once your coach connects to Smoothcomp." \+What changes once a member is linked? They can register for competitions through Gymdesk with their details filled in, and their profile shows a Competitions tab with their past results. \+Can I link a member's account for them? No. Members link their own Smoothcomp account from the member portal, or when they first register for an event through Gymdesk. \+Can a member disconnect their Smoothcomp account? Yes.
